My heart goes out to all of you for this loss.
Thank you Aura.
So sorry to hear about the fire! I hope no one was hurt and that some of the structure and other items can be salvaged. We’ll be there on July 8th for our yearly visit to your hotel. Our thoughts are with you and your staff during this tramatic time.
Thank you Cheryl. We are happy to say that nobody was hurt. Some items will be salvaged, but very few. Thank you for thinking of us and we’ll see you in July.
Hopefully I’ll be staying at the Ocean Crest Resort on my next vacation. I was just told about the fire!!! Ack!! I do hope that everyone is ok and no one was hurt. Of course, we’re ‘all’ hurt with the loss of your fantastic restaurant! Please do keep your fans updated. I’ll sure miss the great food on my next stay there…now, where to eat? My wishes to you all for a rejuvenation of the restaurant.
Allison
Thank you Allison, we will absolutely keep our fans posted. We can’t wait to see you again.
I spent a lot of time at Ocean Crest Resort wile growing up with my parents as well as an adult and I am sad to hear about the fire. God be with you and I will make a point of patronizing your wonderful resort sometime soon.
See you son
[I will look for some snap shots]
Thank you Randall. I know that this fire has devastated many of our guests, we are crying for your loss as well as ours.
Dear Ocean Crest Family and Staff,
We were so sad to see the fire destroying your fantastic restaurant, office and gift shop building on TV today! We have had such great meals there and such good times celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. We sincerely hope that you will be able to rebuild and once again serve the fantastic food with the superlative wine list in such a unique and special setting. Our thoughts are with you and we hope to come out later this summer to help support you and enjoy the great beach and pool facilities.

Oh no! That stinks! Hopefully its able to be repaired. I love that place!
Thank you Art and family.
Jess and Sarah – my thoughts are with you over the devastating fire. It was such a pleasure to come there on special occasions – I hope you know how many of us are thinking of you.
Thank you Tracy, we are overwhelmed with the kind emails, phone calls, and facebook posts that we are receiving.
Our condolences to the Resort owners/family. We have spent many wonderful times at OCR to celebrate oue wedding anniversay and other special times.
We are planning a trip in mid July and grateful the Resort will remain open. We will miss the wonderful resturant and its beautiful views of the beach below. We have such incredible and unforgettable memories.
How sad to have lost so many special artifacts and family treasures. We hope you will be able to restore and recover what you can.
God Bless and know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We look forward to seeing you in July.
The DePoes
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, I’m not sure if I can convey how much it means to us. We have found a few items that survived in a semi-charred state. We haven’t been able to get in to start sifting through the rubble yet, but we don’t anticipate finding any of the baskets.
See you in July.
We love your restaurant. Hope you will be rebuilding it soon.
Thank you, we do plan on rebuilding it as soon as possible.
My condolences to the sataff and any others effected… But I don’t really know if it’s appropriate since I can’t tell if this was posted yesterday or a year ago or five years ago.
You should consider putting a date on your posts, or having the softwarte automatically put dates on them.
Carl
Thank you Carl, for some reason I thought the posts were automatically dated, I’ll find a way to correct that.
Your kind thoughts are both appropriate and timely, the fire happened 06/20/2011. Thank you.
Dear Ocean Crest owners and staff,
My husband and I were so sad to hear about the fire that destroyed your restaurant. We have stayed as guests many times, and one of the things we enjoyed most was the excellent food and service at the restaurant. This is truly a loss.
We have a reservation to stay at the end of August, the fire won’t change our plans as long as you are still open and functioning. The restaurant was just one of many things we enjoyed about staying at your hotel. I can’t think of a better location or view. And, it’s so quiet. We also make use of the wonderful exercise facility across the street.
We know that you will contact us if things change.
Sincerely, Joan and Mike
We can’t wait to see you in August. Thank you very much for your kind words.
Dear Jess,
Words can not express the deep sadness we are feeling for your loss. You all are trememdous people and during this difficult time we want you to know that we are praying for you as move forward. We look forward to being with you again soon. You have heard “There is no place like home” that is what the Ocean Crest Resort means to Frank and myself when we travel to WA!!
May God give you all the strength you need in the days ahead.
Sincerely, Suzy and Frank Hageman
Thank you Suzy and Frank. God does give us the strength to move forward through your kind words. They say “Home is where the heart is” and our hearts are definitely in it. We hope to welcome you “home” soon.
Our family uses Ocean Crest as our favorite getaway. The gift shop and restaurant have been part of the ambience of your resort, but there is so much that your family gives to make it special. We will be back soon.
Thank you for your kind thoughts Linda, we can’t wait to see you again. We hope that you and our other guests will post your favorite memories and photos on our facebook page. We lost our scrapbooks in the fire and would like to put together a new one that incorporates our guest’s memories rather than just family history.
My late husband and i had many wonderful days and memories at your restaurant. He passed away recently and Tuesday night was to be my rememberance night having dinner there for my birthday as he and I always did. I drove by and saw the fire on Monday. I was devastated. Your staff was perfection, your food, perfection, and your attention to customers was perfection. I will be among the first to return when you rebuild and I send my best to the owners and staff. It’s not a loss, as my husband was when he died, because you can rebuild a building and you have already built your reputation and you have a great following. Thank you for being there for all these years and for rebuilding!
Judith Felder and the Late William McCoy
I’m so sorry Judith, I don’t know what else to say. We thank you and William for being our gusts.
For us there is some loss as the core of the building was grandma’s home in 1953. When we rebuild, we’ll have a nice new building, but grandma’s house won’t be there. Our loss is not the same, but it is more similar than many will ever know.
We can’t wait to see you at our Grand Re-Opening and will make that happen as quickly as possible.
I’m stunned. I really feel for you and the loss of your building and the Indian artifacts you had. How very sad. Ocean Crest is a one-of-a-kind resort…and always will be to us. We have nothing but good memories. We will miss the old, but will look forward to the new.
Thank you Bill, we are still a bit stunned as well. We hope to serve you again soon.
OCEAN CREST WAS JUST THE BEST PLACE TO GO….HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF MY MANY STAYS THERE. LOVED THE VIEWS AND WONDERFUL MEALS. TOOK THE FAMILY THERE – THEY HAD NEVER BEEN TO THE WASHINGTON COAST AND HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME!
Dear Jess, Sarah, Rob & OC staff – What a shock. I’m so saddened to hear of the devastating fire. So many wonderful memories of fun times at your terrific restaurant.
Glad to know you’re planning to rebuild as soon as possible. You’re in our thoughts & prayers. Hang in there.
Condolences,
Mary Morris
Thank you Mary, we can’t wait to have you at our Grans Re-Opening.
My heart was sick to learn of the terrible loss of your building, restaurant and shop. Although I haven’t been able to visit for a couple of years now (I now live in Kansas City, Missouri), I fully expect to come back soon. It is where I always could come to truly recharge my batteries and refresh. It was the best restaurant – the greatest steaks, best breakfasts, terrific wine…and splendid martinis!
I know it won’t be the same for you when you rebuild, because the original had such family history but it will provide the same insistence on quality, I know. Maybe I can get their next summer.
My hear goes out to all of you, family and staff.
Jeff Bentley
Thank you Jeff. We are proud to hold such a special place in your heart. Rebuilding is bitter sweet, a shiny new building cannot replace grandma’s house, but it can carry on the rich tradition that grandma started.
We just wanbted to say we are praying for amazing things to happen during reconstruction. Also, that things move quickly as possible. Our son got married last summer and all of the families stayed with you in the resort. They all really enjoyed there stay, so we are looking forward to revisiting soon.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, David. Keep them coming, we are finding strength in your support.
We were very happily with you, in the motel as well as the gift shop, lounge and restaurant, in April, celebrating our 40th anniversary – couldn’t think of a better place to be for that celebration! On top of many, many other memorable stays…
At the April visit, Beth took lots of pictures to put on a CD to send to Florida relatives, extolling the beauty, friendliness and un-matchable ambiance of your place. These photos included the gift shop, the lounge and the restaurant – a great picture of the baskets (can’t believe they’re gone….) and some of the Native American artwork/artifacts.
If you would like a CD of these pictures, Beth will be happy to make it and mail it to you.
We will return, and celebrate your return, while remaining very grateful for many, many wonderful memories.
Tom and Beth
Thank you Tom and Beth. We would love to have a copy of that CD. Please mail it to Ocean Crest Resort, PO Box 7, Moclips, WA 98562. Or… you could drop it off in person!
Thank you Karyz’ma. I appreciate your offer and prayers. We are going to come out of this stronger than ever before. You can continue to help by praying that our staff find work quickly.
